Dee Way
by:David Berry

The Dee Way is an exciting cross-border long distance trail offering opportunities for day or multi-day walks. The route follows the River Dee along the Welsh or English side of the estuary, through the historic city of Chester, the borderlands, Llangollen and the stunning Dee Valley, passing beautiful Llyn Tegid at Y Bala to the river's source in the mountains of southern Snowdonia.

A key feature is that the Trail is supported by public transport throughout its length. In addition to a continuous walk of up to 142 miles, the Dee Way offers 23 consecutive linear walks linked to local transport, a 57.5 mile estuary walk and a 14 mile upland circuit of Llyn Tegid. This book also provides a fascinating history of the river from Roman times, including its maritime and industrial past, border battles, and an insight into the diverse communities the trail passes through.

The guide describes the route in 37 separate sections, each with clear directions and a sketch map. There is a choice of starting locations at either Prestatyn in Wales or Hoylake in England following opposite side of the Dee estuary and these two options join at Chester.
