by: Jacquetta MegarryThe Rob Roy Way is a week-long walk which runs for 79 miles between Drymen and Pitlochry in the highlands, passing some of Scotland's finest lochs and glens. It uses forest and moorland tracks, footpaths, part of a cycle route and some minor roads. Much of the Way has links with Scotland's most famous outlaw, Rob Roy MacGregor (1671-1734)
The multi-folding waterproof cover of the guide, which is ring bound, contains maps of the route. The guide contains comprehensive sections on all aspects of planning the walk, including information for transport and accommodation. A background section then gives information on Rob Roy and the Jacobites, other history, heritage and wildlife illustrated with colour photographs. There are then detailed directions for the official Way and variations. The Way is described in seven sections beginning at Drymen, Aberfoyle, Callander, Strathyre, Killin, Ardtalnaig and Aberfeldy, finishing at Pitlochry.
