by: South Wilts Ramblers' AssociationThe Sarum Way passes through some delightful countryside including river valleys, woodland and downland as it encircles Salisbury and Wilton. To the west of Wilton and the south west of Salisbury the path passes through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a circular path which has been waymarked by signs with a spire logo. This was chosen as the spire of Salisbury cathedral can be seen from numerous points on the walk.
The path is 31.5 miles in length and access to it may be gained using the radiating paths from the centres of Salisbury and Wilton. These radiating paths start at public car parks which are identified in the guide. The route is described in sections and each has an accompanying sketch map. The circular path is described in a clockwise direction and the descriptions from the radiating paths start at the car parks. It is possible to devise numerous combinations of walks which may be either circular or linear.
