The walk across the north of England has long been a favourite with adventurous walkers but now, for the first time, comes a detailed itinerary for a walk across the entire width of southern England from Weston-super-Mare on the Bristol Channel to Dover on the English Channel. Less arduous than its northern counterpart it nevertheless passes through some magnificent country, and all on rights of way or permitted paths. The route passes through the Mendip Hills and then across the Wiltshire downs to Salisbury. It then follows the Clarendon Way, continues through leafy Hampshire lanes, across the Surrey Hills and through Kent to the coast and along the Saxon Shore to Dover.

The route was devised by Ray Quinlan and is detailed in the guide book below. It links a number of existing LDP's with connecting paths to provide a continuous route, although there is no reason why the route could not be undertaken in sections at different times. In practice, this is the way that most walkers would plan to accomplish the whole route.
