Weavers Way
Location: Norfolk
OS Maps: Explorer 252(25); Outdoor Leisure 40
The Weavers Way is so named to reflect the once great influence of the weaving industry in this part of Norfolk. From its start at Cromer it first heads south to Aylesham by way of country footpaths and farm tracks, passing the great estates of Felbrigg and Blickling Hall. It then heads east to Stalham along the route of the old King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth railway. From Stalham the Way makes for The Broads and Potter Heigham from where it follows the river Thurne south to Acle. The final section heads east besides Breydon Water to the coast and Great Yarmouth.
There is considerable variety in the scenery, the farmland and woodland south of Cromer contrasting with The Broads landscape of water and marshes. There are numerous windmills and windpumps along the way and some fine examples of flint churches.
