White Peak Way

Location: Derbyshire

OS Maps: Outdoor Leisure 1, 24

The White Peak Way is a 144km circular walk amongst the spectacular scenery of the Derbyshire Peak District. It explores the hills and dales of the limestone country and the gritstone moors and edges to the east. It visits many notable beauty spots including Dove Dale, Miller's Dale and Hay Dale. Other attractions along the way include Castleton Show Caves, Chatsworth House and Park, and Haddon Hall.

The route has been designed not only to encompass beautiful scenery (not difficult in the Peak District) but to link youth hostels for accommodation. A seven stage itinery from the start at Bakewell allows for overnight stays at the following youth hostels: Youlgreave, Ilam Hall, Hartington, Ravenstor, Castleton, Hathersage and back to Bakewell.
