Greensand Way

The Greensand Way is a long distance path extending for 108 miles across Surrey and Kent. The route begins at Haslemere and ends at Hamstreet and takes the walker along paths which in many places give unparalleled views across the Weald to the south. At many places there are extensive views towards the North Downs. Frequently, the route leads through quiet, almost remote areas. Much of the land is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the stretch from Hindhead to Leith Hill has formed part of the Surrey Hills AONB since 1958. The Severnoaks Ridge, from the Surrey-Kent border to Borough Green, is included in the Kent Downs AONB.

The towns and villages passed through en route are Hindhead,Thursley, Wormley, Hambledon, Hascombe, Shamley Green, Holmbury St Mary, Wotton, Westcott, Dorking, Brockham, Betchworth, Earlswood, South Nutfield, Bletchingley, Tandridge, Broadham Green, Limpsfield, Crockham Hill, Toys Hill, Ide Hill, Sevenoaks Weald, Knole Park, Shipbourne, Dunk's Green, West Peckham, Nettlestead Green, Yalding, Linton, Sutton Valence, Egerton, Pluckley, Little Chart, Hothfield, Kingsnorth, Hamstreet.

On it's journey the walk passes through a diverse landscape of heathland, woodlands, orchards, hop gardens and farmland and is suitable for family groups and casual walkers as well as the seasoned rambler. The route is well signposted and the whole walk or sections of it can be undertaken using public transport.
