The
72km Pendle Way makes an absorbing circuit of the heart of East Lancashire,
exploring the hugely popular 'Witch Country'. The Way begins at the
attractive village of Barley and is described in a clockwise direction
in the guidebook.
The
Pendle Way provides highly accessible walking in the shadow of the celebrated
Pendle Hill, culminating in a memorable ascent of this mighty landmark.
The Pendle Way is regularly waymarked with small black witches and yellow
arrows. The walk can be completed in four days of undemanding walking
in which case the best locations for overnight stops are Barnoldswick,
Laneshaw Bridge and Reedley. However, by using Colne as a base the Way
can be completed as independent day walks using the public transport
links which radiate from the town..
